Vision in the Opposition 2-16-2026
People who read these still. Family, friends, I love you all. I am super grateful for each of you and I hope you know and recognize that. If you don't I'll keep saying it until you do.
This last week was somewhat of an emotional roller coaster like always with its highs and lows. Each of our friends who God gave me the vision of them in white and shown to me their potential fell off hard. Lots of opposition but, people have agency and there is always a greater plan amidst the opposition.
We have a family we are teaching and this past week this mother of 6 kids also is taking care of her mother who is mentally and physically ill. We dropped off dinner with a member. Chocolate for valentines day and hooked her up with an awesome member who said. I'll be your grandma and take care of your family. God's work is moving.
This past week I got so cooked one day during a move. I was so exhausted and I'm physically recovering emotionally from some things I have gone through on my mission that have caused a lot of stress overtime and there has been progress! That I am happy about. Heavenly Father is always teaching us and allowing us to grow in a capacity where it will always be for the better.
I have been struggling with companionship stuff and there has been a lot of patience, love and growth. Something I have learned recently after taking the sacrament Heavenly Father taught me a principle that He has been engraving in my heart these past 2 transfers and honestly most of my mission but especially this transfer. These are the thoughts I journaled.....
Long suffering
The Lord Suffers with us when we suffer, yet he is perfectly patient and allows it to be so for His long-suffering is unto Salvation 2 Peter 3:9, 15. His long-suffering allows God to be perfectly Just and Perfectly Merciful, His long-suffering allows "Real Growth" in our lives as we repent and Suffer Him to Change our heartsAlma 5:5-7, 12.
-Long-suffering can be similar to patience, but I see if as Merciful Patience.
-Longsuffering is only possible with the End in Mind otherwise it just becomes suffering long and with less patience and less Mercy, almost like the natural man who suffers long and complain
-Charity is seeing people as who they can become. Doctrine and Covenants 121:43, 45
-True Long-Suffering is only possible to the beholder of someone filled with Charity
1 Corinthians 13:4
-To be Longsuffering is to be an Agent when the circumstances make it easy to be a victim, yet we need to choose to be patient and merciful still
I have practiced so much Patience and Mercy these last couple of months. I always express gratitude, go out of my way to help, I choose to be considerate and it all slaps me back in the face. Early last transfer back in December I prayed to Heavenly Father what I should do to best help my companion this transfer. I had a very direct and distinct answer of....
"Just try your best to show your love to him and to show him Mine. Emulate My love for him"
I will be honest I have done my very best everyday and most everyday it seems no impact is made. We never know the good we do. One of the senior missionaries can usually tell how my companion and I are doing. It's not hidden at all. We are very comfortable around each other and have known each other for a while. I told her this...."We are doing good, it's just hard sometimes. We know each other well and he is comfortable around me so his emotions are very visible and so he'll just sometimes release them on me" What she told me was profound...She said "That's what it is like being a mother. You love them so much and they are comfortable around you and so it all gets thrown around and on you and it's hard sometimes"
To all of the mothers out there, especially my mother. Thank you for your Merciful Patience towards your children and towards me. Heaven knows we don't deserve all of the wonderful mothers out there who do so much but receive so little.
I love you mom, shout-out to you!
1st Corinthians 13:4 Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up,
I love you all!
Please feel free to reach out. I love hearing from each of you!
Stay sweet-Elder Williams
