Give me This Mountain 9-29-2025
I am in awe of the Grace and refining power of the Atonement of Jesus Christ and what it has allowed for me in my life. Before I continue I just want to express my love to all of you who see and read these emails. Even those that don't read them I still love you. I am grateful for all of you and I miss you all! Nevertheless I am where I am supposed to be.
This most recent transfer took place Thursday morning and my life is forever Changed. The last few days prior to the transfer I got to spend some bittersweet time with some people in the Tysons area I have gotten close with. Our good family from Ethiopia had us over for dinner and I was sad to leave them. They have been so good to me and have increased my testimony of Jesus Christ and his Gospel. I got to say bye to prim my dear Friend who got baptized this Sunday that I couldn't make it too. Nevertheless God has plans for me and I am where I am needed.
Tuesday we Got transfer news and I saw that I will be going out in the farmlands and suburbs in the Gainsville and Haymarket area. I got the Call I will be training and District leading again. I also received the news I will be bluewash whitewashing the area (meaning they had sisters prior but took them out and put us Elders in place of them) To add on to it we are covering two areas and two wards. the Lords plan is perfect for me.
Come Thursday when transfers take place I received the special opportunity to train Elder Bell and we went out and did the best we could! We had some lessons and Member meals and a bunch of random stuff. Elder Bell started talking to people In parked cars and picking up the work quickly it was beautiful. I don't remember too much of what took place a lot of it Is a blur we have been so incredibly busy and my mind is focused on the future.
Friday we had 3 back to back zoom meetings and later I had a 2 hour leadership meeting with the leaders in the mission and the mission president (these meetings have been the highlight of my mission) I received many thoughts and impressions and even life changing revelation as what was shared will impact me and my discipleship the rest of my life and has given me greater purpose and vision and my why of why I am in this area training at this time.
Following that meeting we learned of an event the previous sister missionaries planned with the Primary presidency where they have a booth set up for a community event where family's and kids come to the church and meet police officers and firefighters and touch big trucks. It was a mess we knew nothing about it and all responsibility fell on us. The sisters had no solid plans and the surrounding wards were also whitewashed so we called them up got a game plan and came up with an activity for a Booth. It involved candy so Elder Bell and I went to Walmart at 7 at night to guy buy some. On the way we contacted people in the parking lot and stuff and on the way out as well. On the way out I saw a car parked with tinted windows and it's lights on and I told Elder Bell..."Go knock on that car windows and go talk to them" My amazing companion did just that and we met Derrick... Derrick will be a good friend of mine. We invited him to come play some basketball with some youth Saturday at 7pm and he committed to coming and he actually showed up! To continue his story he came played some basketball and cooked everyone (he's pretty good) He recognized a few people there from school and afterwards in the parking lot we got to talk to him and share a message of Jesus Christ. Derrick about two weeks ago decided he wants to put God first in his life. He's a junior in highscool so we all know how rough it is out there and he wanted to draw closer to God but didn't know how. He knows God is real and wants to be forgiven and have a firm foundation. We were able to share and bear testimony of the Book of Mormon and baptism and it was powerful. He wants to get baptized and he is able to see how God is aware of him. He took a picture of our church and posted it on Instagram so he could share with all his friends haha. God has placed me and my companion here for a reason...
Saturday comes and for the event we totally wing it and it becomes a sucess!! We had some sister missionaries who are also new bring some whiteboards and we created challenges for little Kids and it was amazing and a huge success! We got to meet the whole stake and put our face out there! God's working on our behalf!! Saturday we also had a suprise lesson with a guy named Micheal who is mega elect! If i talk about him this email is going to be way to long. In short we love Micheal. Saturday came and went and Sunday came....
Sunday was absolutely crazy. I have never covered two wards before and whitewashing it has been crazy. At 7:30 am we went to ward council got to know the ward leadership. At 9:30 We took the sacrament then joined the other ward council for our other ward at the same time. At 10 we popped into relifs society then back to the chapel to meet like literally so many members from the other ward I can't keep track and then we went to preists Quarm. In the middle of priest qaurm we get a text from the Bishop of the other ward asking us to give a talk on General Conference on the whim so we go back to the chapel give a talk and then finish off in preists quarm in the other ward. Following that we had a ward coordination meeting and finished at 1:30. So from 7:30am-1:30pm We had meetings and met literally hundreds of people and it's just been crazy since I got here but I am loving it!
My companion is doing great and I love him he is so humble and willing to learn and try his best. It's been weird training 3 people you come to learn for every individual you have stewardship over you have to adjust. There is no one size fits all to training, leading, or even parenting. I'm sure iv had to be raised differently than my brothers to meet my needs as a crazy teenager.
I am grateful for the opportunity the lord has given me to have this assignment to take on this mountain. The sisters in this area were studs and there is so so much work to take on in these two areas but the lord has entrusted us with this sacred responsibility. A little less than a year ago 4 months into my mission I had an experience where I whitewash trained, and combined an area in Alexandria while district leading and that was a huge mountain I climbed and conquered through Jesus Christ and it was anything but perfect. I have learned so much on my mission and I feel the Lord has given me this sacred responsibility to see the Growth I have had in my mission. This new assignment is anything but easy, but I can see what the lord would have me do and I have learned from the past and feel peace and confidence as I work this area with my Beloved companion. The work here is so differnt than any other area I have served but the lord is helping me adjust and apply to it. We will baptize this transfer I have no doubt about that. The Lord gave us these two areas at a time when both wards are ready to receive. We are going to have a miracle filled transfer and I am excited to see them come to pass! I am excited for the growth I will get to see in myself and my companion and the opportunity I have to take on this mountain. I testify of the Refining power of the Atonement of Jesus Christ and what his Grace, the enabling power, allows us to become. Things are different than they were 4 months into my mission and I am grateful the lord has allowed me to see the change and has allowed me to become and will continue to do so throughout my life!
I love you all! You are all in my heart and I am grateful for all of your sustaining prayers. I am grateful for the Life and service of President Nelson and how he has helped me see my divine worth and how he has guided us in these latter days
Please feel free to reach out I love hearing from all of you!
"Stay sweet" -Elder Williams
“Give me this mountain” (Josh. 14:12)
"This is my feeling for the work at this moment. There are great challenges ahead of us, giant opportunities to be met. I welcome that exciting prospect and feel to say to the Lord, humbly, “Give me this mountain,” give me these challenges"
-President Spencer W Kimball
