Normally I'd break things down and have good stories to share but trying to cover two weeks is just really hard when there has been so much going on! Given that I will try to express in humilty and gratitude the blessings I have seen these past two weeks. Looking back on all of those highlights it might seem like I have just had the greatest two weeks ever and it was all dandelions and Daisy's/but rather it was more like thorns and Roses. I have had some incredibly hard times but have seen beautiful blessings and have had some good times. I'd like to highlight the roses.
Rose 1...Last last Wednesday I had an exchange with an Elder and it was awesome I bonded so quickly with him it was great! We had a lesson with our dear friend Bonnie. She is just the sweetest old lady you'll ever meet! She and her Husband bill who recently passed had a couple churches and a ministries they ran together and just loved Jesus Christ and serving others. After her husband's passing she went through a hard time and then met the sister missionaries!! Oh my gosh the sisters were so good to her they brought Joy into her life and taught her the Gospel and nurtured her. She would never commit to baptism though due to some feelings of fear and a lack of understanding. She felt if she got baptized she'd be betraying her husband and she also just didnt understand why our church is differnt no matter how many times it was taught to her. The sisters were super Bold with baptism and invited her to be baptized every time they saw her. During our lesson we testified how God knows the deepest desires of her Hearts and how as she prays and continues in Humility she will gain a sure knowledge that she needs to be baptized and will feel confident in that and know that she can be together again with her husband Bill....
Fast forward a week and a half My companion and I were asked to give a talk in sacrament meeting. His was on faith and mine was on repentance. Usually when I write my talks I just try my best to follow the spirit and prepare myself with thoughts and ideas and scriptures and maybe write down some bullet points. For this talk I wrote down what I wanted to share on a napkin. I went up there and had a napkin, my scriptures, preach my Gospel, and a hymnbook! I was the last speaker remaining and there was 17 minutes left to fill. My talk was focused on repentance, the how and why and how it allows us to receive personal revelation. I focused on the principle of humility and meekness highlighting Joseph Smiths life and how each time he sought Heavenly Fathers help he only received those divine manifestations when he was humble enough and seeking sincere repentance. I shared stories and scriptures and hymns I don't remember too much to be honest.
What I will forever remember is how after sacrament meeting we went over to Bonnie and she expressed to us that she wanted to be baptized and join the church. The spirit entered the room so quickly and it was just powerful. She mentioned something we said last time in our lesson and then Sunday in the talks helped everything click and she just knew she needed to be baptized! Tell me that this is not God's work....This was nothing of my own doing. Sure I gave a talk and shared my personality and teachings of Jesus Christ but come on... I am who I am because of God and neither of us remember what I said that stuck out to her because its nothing of my own doing! God will do his work in his own time! The Holy Ghost is the converter! I am so so so so excited for her. She Is special to me and I am humbled to be here(She's also in direct communication with Trump)
Rose number 2 out of the hundreds....
This will be a mix between my companion and the temple. My companion when he Got to the mission didnt know how to hang up cloths do laundry cook oatmeal or like legit anything. He didnt know anything about the Chruch or much about The Gospel, Book Of Mormon or Joseph Smith. He Didn't really know how the spirit works, how to listen to it or anything. I am incredibly blessed to be his companion though undoubtedly. He is so humble and willing to learn and is adopting a growth mindset. I have had the privilege to pour into him and share all that I know to be true and how to apply correct principles in our lives. It's been a huge blessing to me I have seen his life change and his conversion to Jesus Christ deepen and have seen him access and understand the Atonement. He has been working the area by himself as I have delegated to him and he has grown so much as a new missionary its amazing! I could go on but sometimes we forget we all need the Gospel...member or not.
Rose number 3 of billions. I got to go to the temple!! The temple was beautiful and I love it so much. The peace, the power, the love, the divine is all just what each of us needs to live a life full of Joy amidst the trials and tribulations. We got to go with our bishop and we did Initiatories and an Endowment. The blessings and the promises are out of this world! Literally I am so blessed to have the covenants I have made and to have the opportunity to renew them at church each sudnay as I partake of the sacrament. God is love and you cant tell me otherwise!! Always remember.... each day is a Gift from God!
I love you all so much! Please feel free to reach out!
