There is Rest in Him 5-5-2025
This week was one for the Books I won't lie when Friday rolled around I may have overdid myself. I have a large district and I conducted 3 exchanges, did a two hour workshop for over half the zone, and just put all of the weight on me that's something I'm really good at is taking responsibility and having this weight on my shoulders. It's something iv been struggling with my whole mission but without further Adu let us get into the bulk of the week...
Monday was interesting we basically were at the mission home for a minute and then had a member meal and not much was able to be done but,
Tuesday!!! Wow Zone Accountability and District council was so revalatory it was awesome! We counciled as a district and came up with the most amazing flow ever in regards to first contacts lessons and whatever it may be and as we used it we saw so many miracles in all of our areas. We then split off and did a tri exchange for the rest of the day and covered three different areas. Immediate following I had an exchange with an Elder who has struggled his whole mission and has never felt the spirit or had a testimony and he's been out for a year.
Wednesday exchange day came and I just poured my heart out to God to allow me to help him and I knew what to do to help him feel the spirit and God's love and these Scriptures came to my mind....
Alma 5:7 Behold, he changed their hearts; yea, he awakened them out of a deep sleep, and they awoke unto God. Behold, they were in the midst of darkness; nevertheless, their souls were illuminated by the light of the everlasting word; yea, they were encircled about by the bands of death, and the chains of hell, and an everlasting destruction did await them
Alma 12:9-11
9 And now Alma began to expound these things unto him, saying: It is given unto many to know the mysteries of God; nevertheless they are laid under a strict command that they shall not impart only according to the portion of his word which he doth grant unto the children of men, according to the heed and diligence which they give unto him.
10 And therefore, he that will harden his heart, the same receiveth the lesser portion of the word; and he that will not harden his heart, to him is given the greater portion of the word, until it is given unto him to know the mysteries of God until he know them in full.
11 And they that will harden their hearts, to them is given the lesser portion of the word until they know nothing concerning his mysteries; and then they are taken captive by the devil, and led by his will down to destruction. Now this is what is meant by the chains of hell.
Alma 5:33-34
33 Behold, he sendeth an invitation unto all men, for the arms of mercy are extended towards them, and he saith: Repent, and I will receive you
34. Yea, he saith: Come unto me and ye shall partake of the fruit of the tree of life; yea, ye shall eat and drink of the bread and the waters of life freely;
I extended some bold invitations that are too private and sacred to share but know that he has his answers and things are getting taken care of and it makes me happy. We ended up having a powerful exchange finding 7 people and putting 2 on date it was incredible. There is power in reading the scriptures and applying them in our lives. Everyone go read the Book Of Mormon right now‼
Thursday was a wild day we had some presidency interviews for 2 and a half hours and while those were going on my favorite Elder, Elder Tuala and I did a workshop on baptism and the restoration just straight off the Dome and it was so cool the spirit took over because we did not have anything planned and we both have never done it before. My companion and I later that night had dinner with a nonmember family who has never met missionaries before it was crazy. She is super cool the mom such a spiritual woman and she's gonna feed us again and read the Book Of Mormon. That family is a miracle.
Friday we had another exchange and honestly I was super exhausted by this point and the other Elder Knew it. We had a great time though we worked super hard talked to a lot of people had less success but had an amazing member meal and had fun. We went to the metro during rush hour and he was going crazy because there are like people flooding the metro station and no one was listening to him he went a little crazy. Good times.
Saturday I was cooked I discovered stuff about myself that I needed to work on and have had a hard time recognizing how to help haha. I figured out a couple things. 1. I have high expectations for myself almost like a perfectionist. 2 I take on a lot of responsibility. 3 I'm self critical. 4 I love to take control and grab things by the horn. These 4 things allow me to grow so quick and have blessed me in my life they say pressure is a privilege and if I never work on myself I never improve but on the contrary it has sucked away a little bit of Joy and robbed me of some fulfilment in life on the occasion. I've struggled with this off and on most my mission honestly but it's never been more clear until now on how to help it.
Here are some scriptures and quotes that apply.....
Mathew 11:28-30
28 ¶ Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light
John 6:9 There is a lad here, which hath five barley loaves, and two small fishes: but what are they among so many?
Mosiah 3:19 For the natural man is an enemy to God, and has been from the fall of Adam, and will be, forever and ever, unless he yields to the enticings of the Holy Spirit, and putteth off the natural man and becometh a saint through the atonement of Christ the Lord, and becometh as a child, submissive, meek, humble, patient, full of love, willing to submit to all things which the Lord seeth fit to inflict upon him, even as a child doth submit to his father.
Mosiah 2:22 And behold, all that he requires of you is to keep his commandments; and he has promised you that if ye would keep his commandments ye should prosper in the land; and he never doth vary from that which he hath said; therefore, if ye do keep his commandments he doth bless you and prosper you.
Mosiah 4:27 And see that all these things are done in wisdom and order; for it is not requisite that a man should run faster than he has strength. And again, it is expedient that he should be diligent, that thereby he might win the prize; therefore, all things must be done in order.
Those scriptures are powerful and they are warnings and invitations to come unto the savior so that we may have Joy and Rest in his souls. The accumulation of exchanges and trying to help uplift everyone and occasionally comparing myself to others thinking less of myself has been hard on me and I now recognize it more fully. Something I have been instructed to do that Elder Rasband of the Quarm of the 12 apostles does is everynight he prays and accounts himself to the lord. He walks through his day and lets it all out and gives it all to him then rests easy and starts his next day. I have applied this in my life and started saying my prayers 1 hour- 30 minutes before bed so I can stay awake and the power that comes from it wow
I KNOW that He lives and he is in every aspect of our lives. Sunday we had 0 friends show up and no lessons so we went finding. We didn't find a soul to teach but we helped a hindu couple move heavy boxes and that was God showing his love to them. Having us ride 30 minutes just to help them move a box. He chased after them and he chases after you. Let him in
I love you all and "stay sweet"-Elder Williams
