FuFu Friday 11-18-2024

Monday Funday was pretty chill we played hardcore basketball we won some and lost some. The highlight was I went to the exchange a super sweet store on Fort Belvior and got some new drip it was pretty sweet. Tuesday was a heck of a day we usually have district council in the mornings but it got canceled cause we have zone later on in the week. I woke up that morning and was like I'm giving my all to the lord and I did just that We made a goal of 2 friends and we easily made 5 the lord just blessed us I had a great personal study my topic was Joy in mortality and I listened to some talks read some scriptures but the interesting thing is by lunch my companion and I watched a video on mental health and the atonement....you guys the atonement is so incredible we listened to at least 8 differnt peoples testimonys and story's of the atonement and how they have been healed from mental health issues relating disorders, trauma from SA, or self harm and how they came to know Jesus Christ on a personal level through his atonement. His Atonemnt not only gives us access to his forgiveness and resurrection but to his healing in our afflictions. The Book of Mormon teaches and bears witness of Jesus Christ's atonement more than any other book in this world....we share this Book with others seeking healing and comfort in life and find it through Jesus Christ as they read pray and come to church....The Gospel of Jesus Christ rings so true and it all hinges on Jesus Christ's Atonement We had the privilege of eating dinner with an 88 year old couple who are very close to the savior. About 6 months ago the wife fell and broke her legs...the husband feared she would die considering her age and current circumstances and she expressed physically and emotionally how she wish she were dead...The husband being fearful did the only thing he knew how to do and relied on the savior and prayed for the power of the atonement to take place in their lives and without fail over time within 6 months she is walking with a cane and coming to church every week. The power and spirit that came to that room as the husband testified and cried that through the power of the atonement his wife is still with him and the preconceived notions the nurses had that she wouldn't live let alone walk was proved wrong through the Atonement of Jesus Christ... Looking back on my life I have seen atonement work miracles as I reflect and remember all the pain and heartache, the suffering, the loneliness, and all manner of other afflictions were done away with and through the Atonement. Please Read the Book Of Mormon pray to your Father in Heaven and open up to him how you truly feel. Just as Jesus Christ has felt everything and even begged to the Father to take that bitter cup from him we can look for that same grace. Wednesday was pretty fun we Got to do some more red cross things and Elder Boren and I were able to have two lessons with members with two recent converts and teach them about the gathering of Isreal and family history work and it has been to powerfull testifying of Ordinances of salvation and God's plan for us. We also had a lesson with one of those less active/active family's and eat empinodas (they are Venezuelans) We found out why they don't come to church and we were able to testify of God's love for little children and the Joy of the Gospel and it was so fulfilling. I have been going over to there house every week for the past 4 months and this has been a very progressive lesson. Thursday was Zone conference it was actually way hype we just talked about the doctrine of baptism the whole time and it was so powerful. Jesus Christ is the perfect example in our lives. Before Jesus Christ was baptized he fasted for 40 days just to prepare for baptism. How crazy is that....and he was humble...he asked John the Baptist to baptize him recognizing he had that authority...Jesus Christ paved thr path for us and showed us that straight gait we must enter I also had internet with President and boy oh boy is that man inspired He told me how proud he was of me (he's my hype man) he let me know that he doesn't have to worry about me and that if he needed a hill to be climbed that he knew he could trust me and send me to climb it such a w compliment I didn't know what to do the whole interview I was just smiling as he kept hyping me up He talked to me about two very special specific things he saw in me that I was exemplifing which are two things my patriarchal blessing is very specific about. Or course president has never read my patriarchal blessing but nevertheless the spirit knoweth all things. We then proceeded to get stuck in traffic for 2 hours on a supposed thirty minute commute Friday was a long day but a day I gave to the lord we had surprise service we had to cover for buily a couple beds and then proceeded to stop by and contact so many people. Nevertheless we were unable to contact Like half of them but one thing I knew was that the Lord was preparing someone for my companion and I to find that is ready to be baptized I knew it and God knew it. Throughout the whole day we faced a lot of opposition but around 6 pm we met a guy named Kelvin who we found in our area book that use to play soccer with some missionaries. Nevertheless we met with him found out he is a strong Christain has never heard of the Book Of Mormon but came to love the witness of Jesus Christ it provided. He also knew literally nothing about Baptism except it has to do with water. We taught him about the doctrine of baptism and invited him to be baptized. HES SO DOWNNN ITS HYPE! The Lord answers prayers and miracles are wrought by faith!! Bro was also from Ghana and works at Safeway so win win also we had fufu that night with a member from Ghana and it was kinda buss. The soup was good along with the fish cow tounge and whatever the other meat was I'm just like Gus fr now(not really I like to pretend) Saturday was a grinddd I was sooo tired all the way up until 5 in the evening when I skipped eating dinner and took a nap That morning I experienced another miracle where I referred a guy named William to Liberia Monrovia from Facebook and set him up with missionaries and he was so happy after the missionaries stopped by and he told me he has been looking for Jesus Christ in his life and that I helped him find him. Shoutout to Gus one day I'm going to send him a referral and get that assist That evening we stopped by a family from Africa we have been trying to teach for a minute but they have been so busy but finally that night we made into their home The mom just straight up made us a plate of African rice and it was pretty unuiqe not bad just different She totally offered us fufu but we just had some last night and my companion was not a fan he didn't like the plantain or the cow tounge. Sunday was long I ain't gonna lie we had no one show up to church but everyone confirmed our recent convert who had a temple interview set up at church had something come up and I about died inside. Besides that the sacrament was hype and we were able to have two lessons on eternal families and the family a proclamation. There was a huge focus in Family's that day in our teaching and I loved it. There are two Family's who are less active I love so much and one of which is the family from Venezuelan and they are so amazing We have been able to teach them more about family's and the Gospel and they are getting excited about coming to church again it's so awesome.
