A Fort Belvior Veterans Day 11-11-2024
Pday what a time to be alive. We played pickleball and ultimate Frisbee and ate at Glory Days (it's glorious buss food) Shoutout to Arkansas for having another tornado that's kinda crazy but our house is straight J chilling like always. My companion had a couple miracles Monday night we taught and Ethiopian single mother over the phone and she really wanted to come to church with us and it was awesome. We also reconnected with Dominique and her twin brother joined us. He's so crazy he is straight from the hood and told us some wild story's and how he found Jesus at the club and changed his life and got him off the streets. It was real interesting cause he was claiming righousness and stuff but at the same time telling us aboit all the shootouts he was in and the people he has hurt bro was chill. We also got open door opportunities to teach Dominiques husband as she has been bearing powerful testimony to him on her baptism and the church it's been great to see even though we have never met the man. God cares so much for each of us individually and as family's
Tuesday was pretty cool we got to meet a guy whose brother in laws with that one prison guy we taught a couple weeks ago and he asked for our number and wants to study with us. He had some great questions and he said he really wanted to know more about the Book of Mormon and committed to reading a chapter and pray about it We also had a lesson with Marquis again this one was wild we talked of the Book of Mormon and how it is preserved for our days and fulfills biblical prophesies and he was like "yeah that's facts" he later on ranted about some wild stuff I'm talking homosexualtiy again and how gay it is and a bunch of other will stuff I won't talk about he even pulled up a video on YouTube of him and his home Dawgs rapping and smoking Js and getting arrested it was wild I just sat there didn't know what to do after the video I was like "we gotta get home soon it's close to 9 can we leave you off with a prayer"?and then prayed up and dabbed him up.
Wednesday we finally got new senior missionaries at the military base we had lunch with Chaplain Scarborough again he's so cool. The day after election everyone was so depressed cause I am in a really really blue city and low-key everyone was drinking and having a bad day meanwhile my companion and I were having a field day if yk what I mean. we ended up having lessons straight up the whole day and taught our recent convert about temples and family history and boy I take that stuff for granted Family history is so cool. Will I do it more? Probably not, It's included seeing people progress and find Joy in life and seeing the savior work through them. We taught a less active about the sacrament today and she never realized that as you take the sacrament each week you are building upon the Saviors rock that's how powerful coming to church is each week as the bread and water are blessed and passed.
3rd Nephi 18 11And if ye do always remember me ye shall have my Spirit to be with you. 12 And I give unto you a commandment that ye shall do these things. And if ye shall always do these things blessed are ye, for ye are built upon my rock.
Thursday was cool we volunteerd at a Veterans day service at Fort Belivior with 2 3 star generals and a really really musically tanlented singer. It was so American go check out the Google photos for real that night we had an exchange with our district leader and a bunch of other Elders pulled up and started playing Uno till 11:30 at night and I just wanted to sleeep it was my first time I was genuinely surrounded by people deliberately breaking mission rules but it's whatever.
Friday I went on an exchange in Alexandria for like the first time even though I have been in this zone for a minute but it was really fun It got switched to a biking area and they had an e bike and it was so fast it would go front 0-20 in 1 seconds we didn't have to much happen unfortunately our district leader is going home this transfer and he is super tired. We did the work but not efficiently. He is and was and awesome missionary though It was kinda fun just riding bikes around downtown Alexandria and talking to everyone got to meet some interesting folk haha.
Saturday was actually a good day I ain't gonna lie the lord has blessed us we had a good service project with like 20 missionaries and it was so fun. The aps were plus the old aps and they were like word on the street is you be working hard and it just surprised me cause I didn't know them and I just been doing my own thing in mount vernon the whole time so it made me feel good haha. Can definitely be tough on myself sometimes but it's all good. We started teaching some family it was a miracle and they wanted to come to church. So hype iv been praying to teach a family and God answers prayers little funny story we knocked a door at like 7:30 and there were like girls freaking out and stuff thinking some scary people were outside and they were just being so weird about it and one of them exclaimed she got scared and peed her pants at that point I just anounce I am a misisonary and they open the door and she's just holding a big Ole knife they must've felt so embarrassed cause literally all we did was invite them to church and they literally peed their pants and pulled out a knife
Sunday was so good we had a primary program and our 9 year old recent convert salifu was speaking and his whole family pulled up we have been trying to get them to church forever we also had Dominique there as well and another recent convert so it was a win win win win we got Dominiques member records set up and talked met with the relief society president at her house with Dominique and talked alot about the ward the temple and just life in general. Sitting across from Dominique I just remembered the first time I met her....broken...looking for God..and fallen ill of depression. Seeing her today as we talked about temples and her bearing testimony of how God has helped her has been a highlight in life. It reminds me of the scriptures when it talks about laboring in the Lords Vineyard with the lord and having Joy. I have been able to experience pure Joy in seeing someone come to knowledge of their father in heaven and the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Every hard day I go through as a missionarie for Jesus Christ is worth serving the lord and seeing miracles I feel as if the lord has answered many if ny prayers even the small and simple things. I have been struggling not listening to music cause our rules are so strict buttt nevertheless our mission president greenlight the lds radio and this week they have been playing carrie underwood and Allen Jackson!!literally made my whole mission knowing I don't have to listen to the youth music over and over.
Yall keep me updated and stay Blessed
Stay Sweet----Elder Williams
