Sweater Weather 9-23-2024

 What is up everyone hope ya'll had a great week and are having a great life. Enjoy your music for those of you who are not on a mission that stuff is legit I been missing it this week. Besides that my last email I was feeling a little overwhelmed and stuff but I'm big chilling now except I had a fat headache for like the first half of the week I got sick with a cold or something and I am still recovering but it's all good the work never stops.

   Every day when I wake up my comp and I look outside and go..."Is it sweater weather is it sweater weather??" And then we would check the weather and the high for the day would be like 84 and we would just pray for sweater weather to come quicker cause I loveee fall it makes life so much greater when I can wake up and put a sweater on something about it. 

  This week my companion and I who by the way has been way happier and optimistic,  get along great. We share some similar humor and this week we have had so many lessons and seen so many miracles. We had one of our friends call us up while we were eating lunch and just asked that we say a prayer for him cause he was struggling and so we did just that. We said a prayer offered to stop by and had a 2 hour lesson with him no joke. We gave him a blessing and he started crying. Our father In heaven wants all of his children to be happy and feel at peace. Towards the end of the lesson and after the blessing he started asking us about baptism and is wanting to prepare for it so pray for him.

    That same day we had a lesson with a mother from Jamaica with a young boy about 10 months old and her husband who is military and she expressed how she doesn't understand how we can have Joy in this life because of everything she has been through. If I wish one thing people came to understand is that the Gospel of Jesus Christ brings real lasting Joy in our lives. Our beloved prophet Russel M Nelson has said. "Joy has very little to do with our circumstances and everything to do with our focus" As we focus on our savior Jesus Christ and our Father in Heaven we are able to feel Joy in our lives.

  This week we got into more members homes and were able to help strengthen their faith and it's always nice. We also just became friends with everyone and it has been so nice just talking to people of all faiths and getting to be their friends. It's weird sometimes being 18 fresh out of high school and being homies with 40 year old adult men and single moms.

   Sunday morning was rough our friend who was on date didn't show up to church and she ghosted us. We did have a law of chastity lesson with her the night before. Although she said she would be at church and follow God's commandment she ghosted us fell off date and it crushed me. I blamed myself for not teaching her as great as I could have but then I came to realize people have agency and I did teach her the best I could have and she did feel the spirit and she chose not to come to church. We can only do so much sometimes and it's been hard to learn to not blame myself for people's agency. 

   One quick story for the week today for P-day we went to Mount Vernon again it was fun we got to see the bed where George Washington died again, but while there we ran into a family who was on vacation and they prayed every day before leaving and while on vacation that they may be surrounded by good people and be safe as they travel and they started their vacation Saturday. Sunday they ran unto Mandarin missionaries on the streets and today they ran into us at Mount Vernon! Their prayers have been answered twice and the 2/3 days they have been on vacation they have been surrounded by good people and helped them feel safe as they traveled God loves and answers all of his children's prayers.

    It's been good I am feeling better my comp and I are having a blast people are drawing closer to God life is hard but such a blessing. We truly are here to have joy and to align our will with God's is the only way we can have Joy. Find some way to have Joy this week through our savior Jesus Christ and come to know and understand Heavenly Fathers plan for us and you will find Joy.
