Hood McDonald's sells crackers? 10-21-2024
P-day was hype we played football, basketball, and pickleballlll. I won 8 games in a row and lost 0. Shoutout to my pickleball buddy Elder Gus Murray for playing 24/7 with me back at home.
Tuesday was chill a nice change of pace. We had district council in the morning service in the afternoon dinner with a member and 2 member lessons following that. District council was so fun we had good missionary minded discussions while having fun. I had a whoopee cushion and used it on the district leader it was so funny. I need help. One of our members got married, the husband is a non member but he is a homie iv known him since I got out it's always a hoot with them but they got married last week! Overall chill day and had some random phone call lessons.
Wednesday was hype we had Red Cross and the regional manager for red cross was just bullying Elder Tuala the whole time it was so funny. She's Like our mom always chastising and roasting us but with love, we also had a buss lunch at Glory Days if ya'll ever heard of it. I had the biggest buffalo chicken sandwich of my life. We also had the most buss dinner with an inactive, a Jew, and two members such a random group but it was so fun. We ran into this super cool lady and talked for a minute about life and our church. She's very familiar with it in a positive way. She works in the FBI and was informing us how most of the staff are members from our church lol. She also warned us to be safe like a hundred times because of how dangerous it is here. We really put that to the test at the most hood McDonald's that night as we went in there to do some Facebook work. I had to use the restroom so I went in there saw some people dealing drugs and taking hits and the spirit was like nahhh you gotta leave, it didn't take the spirit to figure that one out but thank goodness for it cause we got out in a hurry lol. Earlier in the week we also had an encounter with a dude with a bloody broken nose that was fresh at the most hood apartments and he just started yelling at us so we dipped out of there quick. The world is so crazy ya'll and it is so sad being in the forefront of everything being at ground level and seeing what drugs and poor decision making can do to people's lives. The saddest part is seeing kids grow up in such poor environments and being raised to fend for themselves in such low income areas and turn to drugs and alcohol. I am so thankful for a stable home and a family that builds their foundation on Jesus Christ.
Thursday was low-key chill. We went to seminary at 7 in the morning class started at 6:30 so I was still late just like the good Ole days we had service right after and threw away some musty rugs at restore and ate at Uncle C's Chicken and Waffles with the ap zone leader and district leaders. We then just did some normal finding found some cool people from Ghana, watched some Book of Mormon videos with one of our friends Marquis about when Jesus Christ comes and teaches about Baptism and the higher law. We also had a lesson with this big black dude and he wasn't wearing a shirt. His Crack was totally out but he was so nice and he has been reading the Book of Mormon every day I am coming to love more and more people every day out here.
Friday I was pretty tired we did some good work though I had a great p study and we made a couple friends stopped by some cool people just the usual. We saw this one dude tatted up head to toe and was like bro can we share a scripture with you, and he was like heck yeah man, so I was like what's the vibe, and he's like happy man, happy. He's like I just got out of prison after 17 years in a maximum security prison and it's a beautiful day and God is good...I was like amen brother He was actually so chill we talked for a minute and he's getting his life together and finding God and is the most chill dude. I flicked up with him naturally
Saturday was rough one of our friends we have been teaching over the phone for 4 weeks was planning on meeting us in person at the library...turns out bro lives in Texas guess we gotta send him over now I was sad. We also had like all of our friends flake on us the whole day and my spirits were low and my social battery was exhausted....nevertheless we had a ward fall festival party and I made the best of it I had the idea of taping a piece of paper on the trunk of our car labeled "ask for a scripture" and instead of giving out candy we were sharing scriptures with all of the little kids my comp and I. It was so fun. Children are so precious one of them stated scriptures are way cooler than candy Amidst all of the sorrow and low spirits there are always moments where we can be still and know that he is God.
Sunday was so chill I felt a lot of Joy in the work. Only one of our friends came and a lot of our lessons fell through but we found joy in member work. We have been working with a family for about 4 or 5 weeks now and they remind me so much of home. It's a house of all boys they all play baseball and it's awesome. They never come to church due to sports and the kids testimonies are lacking butttt we were able to have a great lesson that was inspired and put into perspective the Joy of the Gospel and the role of the spirit in it, One of the kids is 9 and hasn't had the desire to be baptized but he is learning more and more and their family is special to me. It makes me so happy to see them progress and put more effort into their own personal testimonies and helps me feel so much joy and fulfilled in my calling as a instrument in the saviors hands to help family's come closer to our father in heaven.
I made a friend in Liberia Africa on Facebook named baba and I have been reaching him about Jesus Christ's restored church on the earth today and the Book Of Mormon and Jesus Christ's atonement and he is so excited and wants to be baptized it's crazy. Bro has been voice messaging me and calling me and when he runs out of data he uses his sisters phone. I got him set up with the missionaries there and they had a lesson and I made him promise me he would go to church and he did! He is so cool he always hypes me up and asks how me and my family are doing every day lol. One day I'm going to send a referral to Elder Murray in Liberia even if it takes me the whole two years.
I invite everyone here to read from the Book Of Mormon and as you do so diligently and prayerfully the mysteries of God will be unfolded to you. Can you even fathom the mysteries of God? If you say you know enough even that which you know will be taken from you. I promise you as a representative of the Lord Jesus Christ that as you read the Book Of Mormon the windows of heaven will shower eternal truths at you and your Knowledge of Jesus Christ and God's plan for us will grow
2nd Nephi 29
7 Know ye not that there are more nations than one? Know ye not that I, the Lord your God, have created all men, and that I remember those who are upon the isles of the sea; and that I rule in the heavens above and in the earth beneath; and I bring forth my word unto the children of men, yea, even upon all the nations of the earth?
8 Wherefore murmur ye, because that ye shall receive more of my word? Know ye not that the testimony of two nations is a witness unto you that I am God, that I remember one nation like unto another? Wherefore, I speak the same words unto one nation like unto another. And when the two nations shall run together the testimony of the two nations shall run together also.
9 And I do this that I may prove unto many that I am the same yesterday, today, and forever; and that I speak forth my words according to mine own pleasure. And because that I have spoken one word ye need not suppose that I cannot speak another; for my work is not yet finished; neither shall it be until the end of man, neither from that time henceforth and forever.
10 Wherefore, because that ye have a Bible ye need not suppose that it contains all my words; neither need ye suppose that I have not caused more to be written.
1st Nephi 10
18 For he is the same yesterday, today, and forever; and the way is prepared for all men from the foundation of the world, if it so be that they repent and come unto him.
19 For he that diligently seeketh shall find; and the mysteries of God shall be unfolded unto them, by the power of the Holy Ghost, as well in these times as in times of old, and as well in times of old as in times to come; wherefore, the course of the Lord is one eternal round.
